Disappearing cultures series

A series of drawings/paintings created and then immersed in water where they dissolve and ultimately vanish. The motifs represented are age old traditional art/craft from India. This series was made to bring attention to the dying traditions of arts and crafts. Children of a traditional family of weavers for example no longer want to pursue weaving as it was not well paying and sustainable for them to do so. Surviving merely on creating textiles was tougher than learning a new skill and gettting a stable job
